## Biography

Janet Scott Batchler is an American screenwriter, director and producer. She has written several films with her screenwriting partner and husband Lee Batchler, including the story and screenplay for *Batman Forever* (1995) and the screenplay for *Pompeii* (2014). Her other screen credits include *My Name Is Modesty: A Modesty Blaise Adventure* (2004) and an episode of the television series *The Equalizer* (1988).

Batchler is a professor of the practice of cinematic arts at the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, where she teaches screenwriting, adaptation and collaboration. She directed the award-winning short film *The Spittin' Image* (1997) and served as executive producer on *Running for Grace* (2018). She is a graduate of the American Film Institute’s Directing Workshop for Women and a former board member of the Alliance of Women Directors.
