Jason Hall is an American screenwriter, film director and former actor. Born in Lake Arrowhead, California, he attended the University of Southern California. He began his career as an actor, with a recurring role as Devon MacLeish in the television series *Buffy the Vampire Slayer* (1997) and a guest appearance in *Without a Trace* (2002).

As a screenwriter, Hall wrote *Spread* (2009) and *Paranoia* (2013). He received an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay for *American Sniper* (2014). He wrote and directed *Thank You for Your Service* (2017) and co-wrote the screenplay for *Gran Turismo* (2023).
