He has Marfan syndrome, which has contributed to his tall, slender build and long fingers, and he has frequently been cast in creature roles in horror films. Botet began his screen career with a role in *Beneath Still Waters* (2005). He gained attention for portraying Tristana Medeiros in *[REC]* (2007) and has since appeared in numerous horror productions, including *Mama* (2013), *The Conjuring 2* (2016), *It* (2017), *The Mummy* (2017) and *Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark* (2019). He played Dracula in *The Last Voyage of the Demeter* (2023).
