## Biography

Jean Badal (born János Badal) was a Hungarian-born French cinematographer. He trained at the Színház- és Filmművészeti Főiskola in Budapest, graduating in 1951, and began working in the Hungarian film industry in the early 1950s.

Following the 1956 Hungarian uprising, he emigrated to France. His credits as director of photography include *Un roi sans divertissement* (1963), *What's New Pussycat?* (1965), Jacques Tati's *PlayTime* (1967), *A Very Curious Girl* (1969) and *Parade* (1974). He died in 2015.
