## Biography

Jean Bourgoin was a French cinematographer. Born in Paris on 4 March 1913, he began working in film in the mid-1930s and remained active until the early 1970s.

He served as director of photography on films including *It Happened at the Inn* (1943), *La Marseillaise* (1938), *Mon Oncle* (1958), *Black Orpheus* (1959), *The Counterfeit Traitor* (1962) and *Gigot* (1962). He shared the Academy Award for Best Cinematography (Black-and-White) for his work on the 1962 war film *The Longest Day*.

Bourgoin died in Paris on 3 September 1991.
