## Biography

Jean Carson (28 February 1923 – 2 November 2005) was an American stage, film and television actress. Born in Charleston, West Virginia, she trained in music and dance and began performing as a child. She attended Carnegie Mellon University and appeared on Broadway in the late 1940s and early 1950s, earning a Theatre World Award for her role in *Bravo!* (1948).

Carson is best known for her television work, particularly recurring appearances on *The Andy Griffith Show* (1960) as Daphne, one of the "fun girls", and as Jalene Naomi Connors. She played Cassie in the 1955 film *The Phenix City Story* and appeared in episodes of *The Twilight Zone* (1959), *Perry Mason* (1957) and other series, as well as films including *I Married a Monster from Outer Space* (1958) and *The Party* (1968). She retired from screen work in the early 1980s but remained active in local theatre.
