## Biography

Jean Danet was a French actor. He appeared as Olivier in Robert Bresson's *Diary of a Country Priest* (1951) and as Phoebus de Chateaupers in Jean Delannoy's *The Hunchback of Notre Dame* (1956).

Born in Auray, Morbihan, he trained in drama in Paris after the Second World War and worked extensively in film during the 1950s as well as in theatre and television. In 1959 he founded the touring company Tréteaux de France, which he directed until 2001.

He died in Colombes in 2001.
