## Biography

Jean Mousselle was a French cinematographer, director and writer. He began his career in the camera department, working as an assistant camera operator on *The Rules of the Game* (1939) and later as camera operator on films including *Jour de fête* (1949).

Mousselle shared cinematography duties with Jacques Mercanton on Jacques Tati’s *Monsieur Hulot's Holiday* (1953). He directed the short *Paris présente... le mime Marceau* (1953) and the feature *Le Pain vivant* (1955), for which François Mauriac wrote the screenplay and dialogue. He also directed the 1955 short *Le Chemin de l'étoile*.

Mousselle was born on 15 November 1918 in Verberie, Oise, and died on 3 October 2006 in Gourdon, Alpes-Maritimes.
