## Biography

Jean Muir (born Jean Muir Fullarton) was an American stage and film actress. She made her Broadway debut in 1930 and was signed by Warner Bros. in 1933, appearing in supporting roles in films including *A Midsummer Night's Dream* (1935), in which she played Helena.

In 1950, Muir was named in the anti-Communist pamphlet *Red Channels* and dismissed from the cast of the television series *The Aldrich Family*, becoming the first performer blacklisted as a result. She later worked as an educator, teaching drama at Stephens College in Missouri from 1968 and subsequently at a university in Mexico. Muir received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
