Jean-Pol Fargeau is a French screenwriter. He has frequently collaborated with director Claire Denis, co-writing ten of her films including *Chocolat* (1988), *No Fear, No Die* (1990), *Beau Travail* (1999), *35 Shots of Rum* (2008), *Bastards* (2013) and *High Life* (2018).

Fargeau was born in 1950 in Marseille. He has also written for other directors, including Leos Carax on *Pola X* (1999), and collaborated with fashion designer Agnès B. on *My Name Is Hmmm...* (2013). Prior to his screen work he was active as a playwright and musician.
