Jeanne Bates (21 May 1918 – 28 November 2007) was an American actress who worked in radio, film and television. She began her career performing in radio serials while a student at San Mateo Junior College and signed a contract with Columbia Pictures in 1942.

Her early film roles included parts in horror and noir pictures such as *The Return of the Vampire* (1943) and *Shadows in the Night* (1946). In later years she appeared in David Lynch’s *Eraserhead* (1977) as Mrs. X and *Mulholland Drive* (2001) as Irene. She also had recurring and guest roles on television series including *Ben Casey* and *The Twilight Zone*.
