## Biography

Jeannine Claudia Oppewall (born 28 November 1946) is an American production designer and art director. She was born in Uxbridge, Massachusetts, and holds a BA from Calvin College and an MA in literature from Bryn Mawr College. After eight years working at the office of Charles and Ray Eames, she entered film as a set designer in the early 1980s on titles including *Blow Out* (1981) before becoming a production designer with *Tender Mercies* (1983).

Her credits include *The Bridges of Madison County* (1995), *L.A. Confidential* (1997), *Pleasantville* (1998), *Catch Me If You Can* (2002), *Seabiscuit* (2003) and *The Good Shepherd* (2006). She has received four Academy Award nominations for Best Art Direction and won an Art Directors Guild Excellence in Production Design Award for *Catch Me If You Can*, along with a Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award for *Pleasantville*. Oppewall has served on the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
