## Biography

Jeff Melvoin is an American television writer, producer and educator. He began his television career in 1983 as a staff writer on the NBC series *Remington Steele*, later working on *Hill Street Blues* and serving as supervising producer on *Northern Exposure* (1991–1995).

Melvoin has been executive producer or showrunner on series including *Picket Fences*, *Early Edition*, *Alias* (2005), *Army Wives* and *Designated Survivor*, and executive producer on season three of *Killing Eve* (2020). He won a Primetime Emmy and two Golden Globe awards for *Northern Exposure*. He founded and chairs the Writers Guild of America's Showrunner Training Program and has taught at Harvard, USC and UCLA. Before entering television he was a correspondent for *TIME* magazine.
