## Biography

Jeff Povey is a Scottish screenwriter and author. He began writing for television in the early 1990s, following a two-man play, with credits including *Stay Lucky*.

He has written hundreds of episodes for British continuing dramas, including 240 for *EastEnders* (1992–2024), as well as *Casualty*, *Holby City*, *Silent Witness* and *Midsomer Murders*. Povey co-created the series *By Any Means* and *Hooten & the Lady*, and has also contributed to *The Musketeers*, *Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators* and *The Dumping Ground*. In 2002 he wrote and directed the short film *Blowing It*.

Outside television, Povey has published novels including *The Serial Killers Club* (2006) and *SHIFT* (2014).
