## Biography

Jeffrey Hatcher is an American playwright and screenwriter. Born in Steubenville, Ohio, he graduated from Denison University in 1980 with a BFA in Theatre and Cinema. He briefly studied acting at New York University before turning to writing in the mid-1980s.

Hatcher has written numerous stage plays performed on Broadway, Off-Broadway and in regional theatres, including *Compleat Female Stage Beauty* (later adapted as the screenplay for *Stage Beauty*, 2004), *Three Viewings* and the stage adaptation of *Tuesdays with Morrie* (with Mitch Albom). His screenplays include *Casanova* (2005), *The Duchess* (2008), *Mr. Holmes* (2015) and *The Good Liar* (2019). He has also written episodes of *Columbo* (1998) and *The Mentalist* (2014).
