## Biography

Jeffrey Hayden (1926–2016) was an American television director and producer. Born in New York City, he began his career in the late 1940s as a production assistant and associate director at NBC and ABC, directing early colour specials and live dramas for series such as *The Philco Television Playhouse*.

Hayden directed episodes of numerous television series from the 1950s to the 1990s, including *The Andy Griffith Show*, *Leave It to Beaver*, *Batman*, *Ironside*, *Quincy, M.E.*, *Knight Rider*, *Magnum, P.I.* and *Cagney & Lacey*. He also directed the feature film *The Vintage* (1957) and served as executive producer and director on the daytime serial *Santa Barbara*. He was married to actress Eva Marie Saint from 1951 until his death.
