## Biography

Jeffrey Ventre is a medical doctor specialising in physical medicine and rehabilitation, licensed in Washington state. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and also practises as a chiropractor.

Before his medical career, Ventre worked as a marine mammal trainer at SeaWorld Orlando from 1987 to 1995, spending seven years with cetaceans. He later participated in orca research in the Pacific Northwest. Ventre appears as himself in the documentary *Blackfish* (2013), where he is credited as a former SeaWorld trainer. He is also featured in *Long Gone Wild* (2019) and *Corky* (2023), and in the book *Death at SeaWorld*. He co-founded the advocacy group Voice of the Orcas and helps organise the annual Superpod whale-watching event and symposium.
