## Biography

Jeremy Brett, born Peter Jeremy William Huggins, was an English actor. He was educated at Eton College and trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London. He made his professional stage debut in 1954 with the Library Theatre in Manchester and later appeared with the Old Vic company.

Brett played Freddy Eynsford-Hill in the 1964 film *My Fair Lady*. He appeared in other films including *War and Peace* (1956) and *The Medusa Touch* (1978). His most prominent role was as Sherlock Holmes in the Granada Television series from 1984 to 1994.

He was married to actress Anna Massey from 1958 to 1962 and to television producer Joan Wilson from 1976 until her death in 1985. Brett died in London on 12 September 1995.
