## Biography

Jeremy Burnham (28 May 1931 – 31 December 2020) was a British actor and screenwriter. He trained at the Old Vic Theatre School in London after education at Stowe School and began acting in the 1950s, appearing in West End plays and films including *Bonjour Tristesse* (1958). He had guest roles in television series such as *The Avengers* (1961), where he played characters including a vicar, *The Saint* (1962) and *The Persuaders!* (1971).

In the mid-1970s Burnham shifted focus to screenwriting while continuing occasional acting. He wrote episodes of *The Avengers*, *Bergerac* (1981) and *Inspector Morse* (1987). With Trevor Ray he co-wrote the children's serial *Children of the Stones* (1977) and the novelisation that followed; they also collaborated on *Raven* (1977). He authored the novel *Break Point*, adapted as a BBC series in 1982 in which he played tennis coach Frank Abbott.
