Jerome Palmer Cowan (6 October 1897 – 24 January 1972) was an American stage, film and television actor. Born in New York City, he began his career in stock companies and made his Broadway debut in 1923 in *We've Got to Have Money*. He appeared in numerous Broadway productions through the 1950s before moving into film.

Cowan's film career began in 1936 with *Beloved Enemy*. He appeared in more than one hundred films, including *The Maltese Falcon* (1941) as Miles Archer, *High Sierra* (1941), *Miracle on 34th Street* (1947) as Thomas Mara, *The Fountainhead* (1949) and *Pocketful of Miracles* (1961). He also had recurring roles in the *Blondie* film series and guest appearances in television series such as *Perry Mason* and *The Munsters*.
