## Biography

Jerry Bick was an American film producer. Born in New York City, he served in the US Navy during the Second World War, studied at the Sorbonne in Paris and graduated from the University of Georgia, where he taught English. He began his career in the film industry as a publicist for MGM in New York before moving to Los Angeles, where he worked as an agent for MCA, Goldstone/Tobias and the Kurt Frings Agency, and later ran his own literary agency representing writers including Jim Thompson and Daniel Mainwaring.

Bick produced *The Long Goodbye* (1973), directed by Robert Altman, and *Thieves Like Us* (1974), also with Altman. He went on to produce *Russian Roulette* (1975), *The Big Sleep* (1978) and *Swing Shift* (1984), and served as executive producer on *Farewell, My Lovely* (1975) and *Against All Odds* (1984). He died in Los Angeles in 2004.
