Jesse Williams is an American actor and director. He played Dr. Jackson Avery in the ABC series *Grey's Anatomy* from 2009 to 2022, with guest appearances in later seasons.

Williams has directed five episodes of *Grey's Anatomy*, beginning with his debut in season 14, as well as an episode of the series *Rebel*. He has appeared in films including *The Cabin in the Woods* (2012) and *The Butler* (2013).

He received a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Play for the 2022 Broadway revival of *Take Me Out*, which he also executive produced. Williams served as executive producer on the Academy Award-winning short film *Two Distant Strangers* (2020).
