## Biography

Jessica Hobbs is a New Zealand television director. She grew up in Christchurch and began her career with eight years as an assistant director, including on Jane Campion's *An Angel at My Table* (1990). Her first directing credit was the teleplay *Overnight* (1995).

After moving to Australia she directed episodes of series including *Heartbreak High* (1994), *McLeod's Daughters* (2001), *Rake* (2010) and *The Slap* (2011). Relocating to the United Kingdom, her credits include *Broadchurch* (2013), *River* (2015), *Apple Tree Yard* (2017), *The Split* (2018) and multiple episodes of *The Crown* (2016–). She won the 2021 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for the episode "War" of *The Crown*.
