## Biography

Jesús Fernández is a Spanish actor and director. Born in 1950 in Torralba de Calatrava, Ciudad Real, he was raised in Madrid and trained at the Escuela de Arte Dramático from the age of fifteen.

His screen debut came in Luis Buñuel’s *Tristana* (1970), in which he played the deaf-mute Saturno. He also appeared, often uncredited or in small roles, in Buñuel’s *Nazarín* (1959) and *Simón del desierto* (1965), as well as in *Compañeros* (1970) and *La estanquera de Vallecas* (1987).

In addition to acting in film and television, Fernández has worked as a casting director for extras on numerous Spanish productions and has directed short films, including *Cenizas* (2002).
