## Biography

Jim Coleman is an American composer and musician. He provided the original music for Hal Hartley's debut feature *The Unbelievable Truth* (1989) and contributed to other Hartley films including *Henry Fool* (1997). He has scored additional independent features and television series for networks including A&E and HBO.

Coleman was a founding member of the New York noise rock band Cop Shoot Cop, performing on keyboards and sampler under the name Filer. After the band's dissolution in 1996 he released solo electronic albums as Phylr and later ambient work under his own name, including *Trees* (2012). He has also collaborated with composers including Teho Teardo and J.G. Thirlwell.
