## Biography

Jim Cox is an American screenwriter and producer. He graduated from Evergreen State College in 1975, where he made the satirical short film *Eat the Sun*, and later worked on Terrence Malick's *Days of Heaven* (1978) before moving into screenwriting.

Cox wrote the animation screenplays for Disney's *Oliver & Company* (1988) and *The Rescuers Down Under* (1990), and the first draft of *Beauty and the Beast* (1991). He wrote the screenplay for *FernGully: The Last Rainforest* (1992), on which he also served as co-producer, and later contributed to *Thru the Moebius Strip* (2005) and *Jock the Hero Dog* (2011). He has been married to producer Penney Finkelman Cox since 1985.
