## Biography

Jim Fritzell was an American television and film screenwriter. He was born James Gustave Fritzell on 19 February 1920 in San Francisco, California, and died on 9 March 1979 in Los Angeles, California.

Fritzell had a 22-year creative partnership with Everett Greenbaum, during which they collaborated on more than 150 scripts. Their work included episodes of *The Real McCoys* (1957–62), *The Andy Griffith Show* (1960–68) and *M*A*S*H* (1972), for which they wrote 35 episodes. The pair received three Writers Guild of America awards and four Emmy Award nominations.

Fritzell also wrote several feature films with Greenbaum, including *Good Neighbor Sam* (1964), *The Ghost and Mr. Chicken* (1966), *The Reluctant Astronaut* (1967), *Angel in My Pocket* (1969) and *The Shakiest Gun in the West* (1968). He was credited as a creator of the sitcom *The Doris Day Show*.
