## Biography

Jim Ladd (1948–2023) was an American disc jockey, radio producer and writer. He began his career in 1969 at KNAC in Long Beach, California, and later worked at stations including KLOS and KMET in Los Angeles, where he hosted the nationally syndicated interview programme *Innerview* on over 160 stations from 1974 to 1986.

Ladd provided voice work as a disc jockey or radio host in several films, including *Tequila Sunrise* (1988), *Say Anything...* (1989), *She's Out of Control* (1989) and *When You're Strange* (2010). He also appeared in the 1987 Roger Waters album *Radio K.A.O.S.* and its accompanying tour and videos. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2005 and was the inspiration for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' 2002 song 'The Last DJ'.

Ladd joined SiriusXM in 2011 and hosted on its Deep Tracks channel until his death. He was married to Helene Hodge.
