## Biography

Jimmy Conlin was an American character actor who appeared in nearly 150 films over a 32-year career. He began in vaudeville, performing with his first wife Myrtle Glass as the song-and-dance act Conlin & Glass on the Keith-Albee-Orpheum circuit. They appeared together in two Vitaphone shorts in 1928 and 1929.

Conlin's film career began in earnest in 1933. He was a member of Preston Sturges's unofficial stock company of character actors, appearing in nine films directed by Sturges, including *Sullivan's Travels* (1941), *The Palm Beach Story* (1942) as Mr. Asweld, and *The Sin of Harold Diddlebock* (1947) as Wormy. His other notable credits include *Anatomy of a Murder* (1959) and *Captains Courageous* (1937). He also had a regular television role as a bartender on the series *Duffy's Tavern* (1954).

Conlin was born in Camden, New Jersey, and died in Encino, California, in 1962. His second wife was Dorothy Ryan.
