## Biography

Jo Heims was an American screenwriter and producer. Born Joyce Heims in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she moved to California in the 1950s and began writing for film and television in the 1960s after working as a model, dancer and fashion illustrator.

She received story and teleplay credits on the television series *The Fugitive* (1963). Heims collaborated with Clint Eastwood on *Play Misty for Me* (1971), for which she wrote the story and screenplay, and *Breezy* (1973), which she wrote and served as associate producer. Other credits include *The Devil's Hand* (1961), *Double Trouble* (1967) and *You'll Like My Mother* (1972). She was married to producer Bill Duffy from 1972 until her death.

Heims died of breast cancer in Los Angeles on 22 April 1978, aged 48.
