## Biography

Jo Joyner is an English actress. She graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff with a BA in Acting in 1999.

She is known for her long-running role as Tanya Branning (later Cross) in the BBC soap opera *EastEnders* (2006–2013, with returns in 2015 and 2017). Other notable credits include Fanny Thornton in the 2004 miniseries *North & South*, Beth Nicholls in *No Angels* (2004–2006), Luella Shakespeare in *Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators* (from 2018), Mandy Carter in *Ackley Bridge* (2017–), and Lynda Moss in *Doctor Who* (2005). She has also appeared in *Spooks* (2002), *Silent Witness* (1996) and *Stay Close* (2021).

Joyner has received awards including the Rose d'Or for Best Female Comedy Performance for *Swinging* (2006) and Best Dramatic Performance at the British Soap Awards (2008).
