## Biography

Jo Southwell is a director and writer working in television, film and immersive formats. She has directed episodes of the BBC series *Doctors* and an episode of *Call the Midwife* for Neal Street Productions, the latter longlisted for a National Television Award for Drama Performance.

She trained in continuing drama and undertook shadow director placements on *Killing Eve* and *Trigger Point*. Her award-winning short films, including *Echo* and *Deirdre*, have screened at BAFTA-, BIFA- and Oscar-qualifying festivals. In 2024 she co-founded the production company Mermaid Pictures Ltd with producer Sara Gibbings.
