## Biography

Joachim Herbert Cooder is an American composer, percussionist, drummer and keyboardist. Born in Santa Monica, California, on 23 August 1978, he is the son of guitarist and composer Ry Cooder. He began performing professionally in his teens and has collaborated extensively with his father.

Cooder contributed percussion to the 1997 *Buena Vista Social Club* album and appears as a musician in the 1999 documentary film of the same name directed by Wim Wenders. He has released solo albums including *Love on a Real Train* (2012), *Fuchsia Machu Picchu* (2018) and *Over That Road I’m Bound* (2020), and has composed for documentaries such as *Spark: A Burning Man Story* (2013) and *Charged: The Eduardo Garcia Story* (2017).
