## Biography

Joan Bridge was a British costume designer and Technicolor consultant. She began her career in the late 1930s and worked in colour consultancy on films including *Ben-Hur* (1959) before moving into costume design.

Bridge collaborated extensively with Elizabeth Haffenden from the 1960s onwards on more than twenty productions. Their credits include *A Man for All Seasons* (1966), *Chitty Chitty Bang Bang* (1968), *Fiddler on the Roof* (1971) and *The Day of the Jackal* (1973). She received an Academy Award for Best Costume Design (Colour) for *A Man for All Seasons*.

Later credits include *Conduct Unbecoming* (1975), *Hanover Street* (1979) and the television film *The Curse of King Tut's Tomb* (1980). Bridge retired around 1980 and died in 2009.
