## Biography

Joan Sobel is a film editor. She studied illustration at the Parsons School of Design and English at Montclair State University. She began her career in 1990 as an assistant editor on the documentary *American Dream* and later worked as first assistant editor to Sally Menke on Quentin Tarantino's *Kill Bill: Vol. 1* (2003) and *Kill Bill: Vol. 2* (2004), having previously assisted on Paul Thomas Anderson's *Boogie Nights* (1997).

Sobel took her first solo feature editing credit on *The Quiet* (2005). She has edited Tom Ford's *A Single Man* (2009) and *Nocturnal Animals* (2016), the latter earning her a BAFTA nomination for Best Editing. Her other editing credits include *Admission* (2013), *The Rhythm Section* (2020), *Moon Knight* (2022) and *My Mother's Wedding* (2023). She is a member of the American Cinema Editors, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and BAFTA.
