## Biography

Joanne Dru, born Joan Letitia LaCock, was an American actress. She moved to New York in 1940 and worked as a model before appearing in the Broadway musical *Hold On to Your Hats*. Her film debut came in *Abie's Irish Rose* (1946).

Dru appeared in several notable films of the late 1940s and early 1950s, including the Westerns *Red River* (1948), *She Wore a Yellow Ribbon* (1949) and *Wagon Master* (1950), as well as the political drama *All the King's Men* (1949), in which she played Anne Stanton. She later worked in television into the 1970s. She was the sister of actor and television host Peter Marshall.
