## Biography

Joseph D. Johnston, also credited as Joe Johnston, is an American director, writer and storyboard artist. He began working on the animated series *Steven Universe* (2013) as a writer and storyboard artist, later becoming supervising director on the series from 2015.

Johnston co-directed *Steven Universe: The Movie* (2019) with Kat Morris and contributed to the story and writing. He has also directed episodes of *Amphibia* (2019) and worked as a writer on *Steven Universe Future* (2019). He has received Primetime Emmy nominations for his contributions to *Steven Universe*.
