## Biography

Joe Morgenstern is an American writer and film critic. He wrote episodes of the television series *Law & Order* (1991–1992), contributing story, teleplay and written-by credits, and also wrote for *Law & Order: UK* (2009). His other television work includes the story for the 1976 television film *The Boy in the Plastic Bubble* and executive producing an episode of *American Playhouse* (1984).

Morgenstern graduated from Lehigh University with a B.A. in 1953. He worked as a film critic for *Newsweek* (1965–1983) and *The Wall Street Journal* (1995–2022), winning the Pulitzer Prize for Criticism in 2005. He was previously married to actress Piper Laurie.
