Joel Metzger is an American television writer. In the mid-1990s he moved from Indiana to Los Angeles and began working in the industry, initially as an assistant to producers on series including *Deadly Games* and *Robin's Hoods*.

His writing credits include an episode of *The Outer Limits* (1996), *Sliders* (1999), *The Pretender* (1999), *Earth: Final Conflict* (2000), five episodes of *Xena: Warrior Princess* (2000–2001, as staff writer on season 6), *Cleopatra 2525* (2000–2001) and *Andromeda* (2003). He later wrote for animated series including *Pet Alien* (2006–2007) and *I Got a Rocket!* (2007). In 2006 his pilot script *Hothouse Bruiser* was selected in the Slamdance Teleplay Contest.
