## Biography

Joel Schiller (1930–2017) was an American production designer and art director. He began his career in the 1960s, serving as assistant production designer on *The Graduate* (1967) and art director on *Rosemary's Baby* (1968).

As production designer, Schiller worked on *Lenny* (1974), *The Muppet Movie* (1979), *The Buddy Holly Story* (1978), *Nuts* (1987), *Clean and Sober* (1988), *Stanley & Iris* (1990) and *Narrow Margin* (1990). He collaborated frequently with directors Martin Ritt and James Frawley. A trained painter who studied with John Groth and William de Kooning, he also created production sketches for Cecil Beaton on *My Fair Lady* (1964).
