## Biography

Joey Murphy is an American screenwriter and television producer. He wrote one episode of the animated series *Doug* in 1991 and later contributed to sitcoms including *The Crew* (which he co-created), *Cybill* and *The 5 Mrs. Buchanans*.

Murphy joined the writing staff of *Desperate Housewives* when the series began in 2004. He wrote multiple episodes across its run and rose through the production ranks, serving as consulting producer, co-executive producer and, from season four, executive producer. He has frequently collaborated with writing partner John Pardee. Murphy received a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series for his work on the first season of *Desperate Housewives*.
