## Biography

Johanna Harwood is an Irish screenwriter. She entered the film industry in 1949 and trained at the Institut des hautes études cinématographiques in Paris. She worked as a continuity supervisor on several films in the 1950s before moving into screenwriting.

Harwood received a co-writing credit on the screenplay for *Dr. No* (1962) and an adaptation credit on *From Russia with Love* (1963). She also contributed to *Call Me Bwana* (1963) and wrote the screenplay for the French film *Ne jouez pas avec les Martiens* (1968). She was sometimes billed as J. M. Harwood or Johanna Clément.

She was married to French film director René Clément from 1986 until his death in 1996.
