## Biography

John Archer, also credited early in his career as Ralph Bowman, was an American actor. Born in Osceola, Nebraska, he moved to California as a child and studied cinematography at the University of Southern California before turning to acting. He made his film debut in 1938 and won a radio contest that secured him an RKO contract under the name John Archer.

Archer appeared in films including *White Heat* (1949) as Philip Evans, *Destination Moon* (1950) and *Blue Hawaii* (1961). His television credits include episodes of *The Twilight Zone*, *Perry Mason*, *Bonanza*, *Batman* and *Columbo*. He was married to actress Marjorie Lord from 1941 to 1955; their daughter is actress Anne Archer. He died in Redmond, Washington, in 1999.
