## Biography

John Axelrad is an American film editor. A graduate of the USC School of Cinema-Television, he began his career as an assistant editor in the 1990s, working with editors including Anne V. Coates, before moving into feature editing.

He has edited numerous features, including *Ad Astra* (2019), *Papillon* (2017), *The Lost City of Z* (2017), *Krampus* (2015) and *The Switch* (2010). Axelrad has maintained a long collaboration with director James Gray. He edited *The End of Oak Street* (2026), directed by David Robert Mitchell.

Axelrad is a member of the American Cinema Editors and has mentored emerging editors through programmes run by the ACE, the Academy and others. He was born in Chicago, Illinois.
