John B. Carls is a producer and writer. He began his credited work as executive producer and story editor on the animated television series *Little Bear* (1995–2001).

Carls later worked on several animated features, serving as executive producer on *Open Season* (2006) and producer on *Where the Wild Things Are* (2009) and *Rango* (2011). He produced the live-action film *Queen of Katwe* (2016). He received a Producers Guild of America Award nomination for *Rango* and a Christopher Award for *Queen of Katwe*.
