## Biography

John Brown was a Scottish screenwriter. Born in Burntisland, Fife, he studied English Literature at the University of St Andrews and trained as a teacher at Moray House College of Education. He worked in film and media education at the Scottish Film Council before turning to full-time screenwriting in 1989.

Brown wrote episodes for several British television series, including *Bergerac* (1991), *Inspector Morse* (1992), *The Justice Game* (1989–1990) and *Taggart*. His feature screenplay *The Flying Scotsman* (2006) was completed shortly before his death. He also wrote for European television productions.
