## Biography

John Buckler, also credited as John Henry Clanfergael Buckler, was a British stage and film actor. He was born on 1 April 1906 in Cape Town, South Africa, the son of actor Hugh Buckler and actress Violet Paget. As a child he spent time in England before joining his parents in Australia in 1914.

Buckler made his Broadway debut in 1925 in *The Green Hat*. He appeared in further Broadway productions including *The Letter* and *The Barretts of Wimpole Street*. His film career began in 1934; his roles included Ham Peggotty in *David Copperfield* (1935), Beran in *The Black Room* (1935) and Captain Fry in *Tarzan Escapes* (1936).

Buckler died on 30 October 1936, aged 30, in a car accident in Malibu, California, alongside his father.
