## Biography

John Canada Terrell is an American actor. His breakout role was as Greer Childs in Spike Lee's *She's Gotta Have It* (1986). Lee cast him without an audition.

Terrell appeared in several films including *Mo' Better Blues* (1990), *Def by Temptation* (1990), *The Five Heartbeats* (1991) and *Boomerang* (1992), as well as the television series *Law & Order*. He has also worked as a producer.

In a 2025 interview, Terrell stated that he had helped run an acting school in Philadelphia and supervised the historic Victoria Theater in New York City. He has continued to act on stage.
