## Biography

John Castle is an English actor. Born John Michael Frederick Castle on 14 January 1940 in Croydon, Surrey, he was educated at Brighton College and Trinity College, Dublin, and trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA).

His screen debut came in Michelangelo Antonioni's *Blow-Up* (1966), in which he played Bill. He portrayed Geoffrey in *The Lion in Winter* (1968) and appeared as Postumus Agrippa in the BBC series *I, Claudius* (1976). Other credits include *Man of La Mancha* (1972), *RoboCop 3* (1993) and episodes of *The Prisoner* (1967) and *Agatha Christie's Poirot*.

Castle has worked in theatre, film and television, with stage appearances including a 1964 production of *Henry V* and a 1970 Broadway role in the musical *Georgy*. He is married to the writer Maggie Wadey.
