John Coveny is a television writer and producer. He co-created the neo-Western crime drama series *Longmire* (2012) with Hunt Baldwin. The series, adapted from novels by Craig Johnson, ran for six seasons; Coveny served as developer, wrote multiple episodes, and acted as executive producer and showrunner.

Coveny has written episodes of *Yellowstone* (2018) and worked as co-executive producer on the series. His other credits include writing and producing roles on *The Closer* (2005) and writing for *Deputy* (2020). He received one win and one nomination for his work on *Longmire*.
